Winter semester 2025/2026

Lecture on law of performance failure

Course catalogue no. 10815

Moodle Course: Registration code: JSR

In the current winter semester 2025/2026, I will be giving an advanced lecture on the law of performance failure. The lecture covers the part of the law of obligations that is traditionally most relevant in exams. It takes place on Mondays from 12:00 to 14:00 in room BE 2, 139A.

I will make the lecture materials available for download on this website and in the Moodle course for private study purposes. They will remain there until the start of the winter semester 2026-27.

Lecture notes

The lecture is structured around case studies. The cases I had planned for the individual lectures will remain here until the start of the 2026/27 winter semester. The same applies to the follow-up materials. Most of the judgements and essays cited in the materials can be downloaded from the Case law references page, but only for your private study.

Study papers

You cannot write a study paper on the topic of this lecture. However, you have the opportunity to write a study paper on sales law (with a focus on breaches of contract) during the winter semester break in anticipation of my lecture on sales law in the summer semester 2026.

The topics will be announced on Monday, 2 March 2026.

The projects are to be submitted on Monday, 13 April 2026.

The information provided by the examination office applies to the student research project. I have some additional tips at the following link:
